FLock.io Publishes Systematisation of Knowledge for Decentralised AI: A Roadmap for Innovation
London, England, December 9th, 2024, Chainwire
FLock.io’s comprehensive framework reviews over 40 decentralised AI projects, highlighting key advancements and opportunities for the future
FLock.io, a decentralized AI Model Training platform, has announced the release of its Systematisation of Knowledge (SoK) for decentralised AI (DeAI). This comprehensive framework is designed to provide clarity and direction in the rapidly evolving field of DeAI, and serves as a resource for developers, researchers, and innovators in DeAI – offering a taxonomy, analysis, and roadmap for future advancements.
“The SoK is more than just a review — it’s a guidebook for innovation that identifies critical gaps in the field and points at solutions in DeAI. It showcases how Ethereum’s features, like permission control and tokenization, are reshaping the way we think about decentralisation in AI. It will serve as an invaluable resource for anyone looking to understand and contribute to the landscape,” said Dr. Davide Crapis, Ethereum researcher.
The SoK systematically reviewed over 40 DeAI projects, categorizing them across frameworks like task creation, model marketplaces, blockchain functionalities such as permission control and AI asset tokenization, and security guarantees like proof of stake and zkML. Featured projects include IO.NET, Akash, and SingularityNET.
The publication highlights how blockchain is transforming AI through enhanced decentralization, security, and transparency while incentivizing contributors fairly. It also identifies opportunities for research and future advancements, such as combining proof-of-learning consensus mechanisms with zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) or exploring the tokenomics of decentralized compute networks.
“One of the most exciting aspects of this SoK is its accessibility—it ensures that anyone, regardless of experience, can confidently explore and innovate in this transformative field,” said Dr. Zhipeng Wang, blockchain and cryptography research lead at FLock.io and Research Associate at Imperial College London.
FLock.io recently closed a $6 million seed round to develop a world-first collaborative dAI training platform with on-chain governance and model hosting capabilities. The startup is also the sole AI infrastructure recipient of the Ethereum Foundation’s Academic Grants Round 2024.
The SoK is available now for developers and researchers seeking to deepen their understanding of DeAI protocols and contribute to the ecosystem. Users can read the Systematisation of Knowledge here.
