Chromia’s Asgard Mainnet Upgrade Scheduled for December 3rd
Stockholm, Sweden, November 19th, 2024, Chainwire
Chromia has officially set December 3rd as the date for its upcoming Asgard Upgrade, marking the first major technical update to the Layer-1 relational blockchain’s mainnet. This upgrade introduces Chromia Extensions, modular enhancements that allow developers to add new features on top of the core platform, expanding functionality while retaining the strengths of the existing infrastructure.
Extensions enable developers to incorporate specialized features while maintaining the platform’s unique relational architecture, modular framework, and gas-free user experience. Alex Mizrahi, co-founder, commented on the impact of Extensions, stating: “Chromia already has several unique characteristics that make it stand out. Extensions will add another layer of capability, making it even more flexible and powerful.”
The first planned release is the Oracle Extension, expected in early December. Developed in cooperation with Stork, a leading decentralized data provider, it will enable real-time off-chain data integration directly into applications built on the platform. This enhancement, along with recent enhancements to Chromia’s asset bridge and integration of native CHR with exchanges, is expected to stimulate expanded economic activity and value growth across the network.
The AI Inference Extension, scheduled for Q1 2025, will support on-chain AI model applications by leveraging the network’s computational power. This Extension is intended to strengthen the platform’s role as a transparent data layer for decentralized AI projects, including those supported by the Chromia Data and AI Ecosystem Fund, which launched earlier this year.
“Chromia’s unique relational architecture already allows AI-enabled blockchain projects to bring transparency to their training models, data sources, and inputs,” said Yeou Jie, Chromia’s Head of Business Development. “The Inference Extension will advance this even further, allowing more elements of the AI process to operate directly on-chain.”
The Asgard Upgrade will go live on December 3rd, with the public release of the Oracle Extension to follow shortly after. The full development roadmap for Extensions can be viewed on Chromia’s Official Website.
About Chromia
