Blockscout Launches Merits Program to Gamify Blockchain Exploration
BELGRADE, SERBIA, November 8th, 2024, Chainwire
Multichain open-source block explorer introduces rewards program to make blockchain data more accessible and engaging.
Blockscout, the leading open-source block explorer supporting over 1000 EVM chains, today announced the launch of its Merits Program. This innovative initiative aims to make blockchain exploration more accessible and engaging by rewarding users who master essential blockchain navigation skills.
The Blockscout Merits Program introduces a gamified approach to learning and using block explorer tools, which are crucial for anyone participating in the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem. Through the program, users earn Merits and collect NFT badges for completing various activities, from basic blockchain navigation to advanced smart contract interactions.
“Block explorers are essential tools in anyone’s daily DeFi routine, yet many users find them intimidating,” said Igor Barinov, Founder and CEO of Blockscout. “By gamifying the learning process, we’re making blockchain exploration more approachable while recognizing our community’s contributions to open-source infrastructure.”
The program launches with several core features:
- Daily engagement rewards
- Educational quests and campaigns
- Community referral system
- Collectible NFT badges featuring Blockscout’s Capybara mascot
Future developments will include rewards for active explorer usage, and special promotional campaigns with partners across the Web3 ecosystem.
Each NFT badge, available in four rarity levels, represents specific achievements within the Blockscout ecosystem. These badges serve both as collectibles and as proof of expertise in blockchain exploration.
Blockscout’s Merits Program reflects the company’s commitment to maintaining a transparent, accessible, and community-driven blockchain ecosystem. The program may eventually expand to include exclusive feature access and additional utility for active participants.
Drawing inspiration from traditional scouting programs, the concept of “Merits” rewards individuals who master various skills. “Just as scouts learn wilderness navigation and survival skills, ‘Block Scouts’ master the tools needed to navigate the blockchain landscape,” explained Barinov. “Each Merit earned represents a step toward blockchain literacy, making users more confident and capable in their Web3 journey.”
By reimagining block explorer users as “Block Scouts,” the program celebrates skilled navigators of the blockchain ecosystem who contribute to and benefit from open-source infrastructure. This theme extends through the program’s NFT badges, which feature Blockscout’s Capybara mascot in various onchain scouting-inspired scenarios.
The Merits Program launch comes during a period of significant growth for Blockscout. As the de-facto solution for Rollup-as-a-Service providers like Alchemy, Altlayer, Caldera, Conduit, and Gelato, Blockscout continues to expand its reach across the ecosystem.
Recent integrations include major Superchain networks such as Uniswap’s Unichain, Kraken’s Ink Chain, Worldcoin’s World Chain, and Sony’s Soneium. This growth follows Blockscout’s $3M seed round in August 2024, led by 1kx with participation from Primitive Ventures and GnosisVC, reinforcing its position as the leading open-source block explorer providing advanced analytics and multi-search functionalities across over 1,000 networks.
