Lava’s Tokenization Sandbox Goes Live with €500M Energy Initiative as Institutional RWA Pipeline Expands
George Town, Cayman Islands, July 29th, 2026, Chainwire
Live deployment follows Lava’s growing tokenization initiatives spanning a $6B Caribbean real estate development, energy infrastructure and tokenized financial assets
Lava Network today announced that its Tokenization Sandbox has entered its next phase with the launch of a live energy-focused deployment alongside Electric Blue, a Berlin-based energy company targeting up to €500 million in tokenized financing for battery energy storage assets across Germany. The milestone follows the Sandbox’s initial launch in June and builds on a growing institutional pipeline that includes large-scale real estate, payments and tokenized financial assets.
Since announcing its first Tokenization Sandbox on June 10 and June 25, Lava has attracted more than 40 institutional applications from organizations evaluating real-world asset (RWA) tokenization. The initiative provides eligible participants with access to Lava’s decentralized RPC and API infrastructure, enabling enterprises to test blockchain-based asset issuance and settlement on production-grade connectivity before broader deployment.
Among the largest initiatives currently participating is Lava’s previously announced collaboration with BHL, which is evaluating blockchain infrastructure for Alba Bay, a planned $5.4 billion master-planned development in the Dominican Republic. Spanning approximately 40 million square meters and around 40,000 planned residential units, the project represents one of the largest real estate initiatives currently exploring tokenization infrastructure through Lava’s Sandbox. Led by Israeli entrepreneur Yossi Abadi, the initiative is assessing how blockchain infrastructure could support future digital asset applications across large-scale real estate development.
The Sandbox has now reached another milestone with the launch of Electric Blue’s energy-focused deployment. The Berlin-based company is evaluating blockchain infrastructure to support up to €500 million in tokenized financing for battery energy storage across Germany, beginning with a 6 MW / 18 MWh storage project in Oranienbaum-Wörlitz that is expected to reach commercial operation in late 2026 or early 2027. At full scale, the initiative could support approximately 580 MW of battery capacity and around 1,750 MWh of energy storage.
The timing reflects broader changes in Germany’s energy market. According to Fraunhofer ISE, Germany currently operates approximately 29.8 GWh of battery storage but is projected to require between 100 and 170 GWh by 2030 as renewable energy generation continues to expand. In 2025 alone, the country recorded 573 hours of negative electricity prices while more than 2,700 GWh of solar generation was curtailed, highlighting growing demand for flexible energy storage infrastructure.
“When we launched the Sandbox, our goal was to help institutions move beyond theoretical discussions and begin evaluating tokenization in real-world environments,” said Nimrod Knoller, Head of Lava Foundation. “Seeing organizations explore applications ranging from a multi-billion-dollar real estate development to energy infrastructure and tokenized financial assets demonstrates how quickly institutional interest is broadening.”
Beyond real estate and energy, Lava’s inaugural Sandbox cohort also includes Bitbond, APPLAYER, AEREDIUM, focused on payment and settlement infrastructure, and SHIFT, an Israel-based platform exploring tokenized bonds and equities, Toto Finance a global blockchain platform that tokenizes physical commodities like gold, silver, copper, and diamonds. More than 40 additional organizations are currently being assessed for future participation across multiple asset classes and infrastructure categories.
Rather than functioning as a tokenization platform itself, Lava provides the decentralized RPC and API infrastructure that enables applications to securely interact with blockchain networks. Through the Sandbox, participants gain access to the same production-grade infrastructure they would use in commercial deployments, allowing organizations to evaluate tokenization strategies before moving toward live implementations.
