Global BITmarkets Survey: Bitcoin Expectations Cool After 2025 Peak
Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, April 20th, 2026, Chainwire
According to a global survey among cryptocurrency users, 44% of respondents believe that Bitcoin will not surpass the $100,000 mark this year. In contrast, nearly one-third (31%) expect the price of the most widely used cryptocurrency to exceed this level in 2026 but not surpass last year’s all-time high (approximately $126,000). The smallest group consists of optimists, with just under a quarter (24%) believing that Bitcoin will reach a new price record this year.
Compared to a similar survey conducted in December 2024, this represents a noticeable cooling of expectations among Bitcoin users. At that time, 58% of respondents believed that Bitcoin’s value would reach or exceed $200,000 in 2025. These findings are based on international surveys conducted among users of the BITmarkets platform, with a total of 1,934 respondents from 58 countries worldwide.
“While two years ago crypto users were riding a wave of optimism, with Bitcoin breaking one record after another, sentiment cooled toward the end of last year. After reaching its all-time high in October 2025, the most well-known cryptocurrency experienced a relatively rapid decline, and this year Bitcoin has been stagnating around the $70,000 level,” said Ali Daylami, Head of Data Analytics at BITmarkets, adding: “The development of Bitcoin, and the cryptocurrency market as a whole, during recent geopolitical crises and turbulence across global commodity and financial markets suggests a certain degree of autonomy. It appears that Bitcoin’s own supply and demand cycle remains more influential in determining its value than external factors alone.”
