Pulse and pump.science Launch World’s First On-chain Wearable Study to Assess Supplement Efficacy
New York, USA, December 12th, 2024, Chainwire
Web3 healthtech startup Pulse and gamified longevity research platform pump.science have announced a first-of-its-kind on-chain wearable study that merges DeSci with DePin.
At a time when biohacking and longevity trends are soaring in popularity, Pulse is turning vitals into value using its wearable fitness tracker. Pulse’s tech pulls together data from wearables, blood work, and DNA into a single, unified profile – called an on-chain digital twin. This data can then be shared with third parties in return for rewards and enhanced insights.
The recently launched Pulse wearable, which continuously monitors a range of health metrics for users – has been a big hit, selling out its first five pre-order batches, highlighting strong consumer interest in data ownership and DeSci.
pump.science, the first DeSci project built on Solana, has seen rapid growth since its Solana Breakpoint launch in September 2024. In just two months, the platform has attracted almost 50,000 token holders and 30,000 daily active users. pump.science has completed two C elegans longevity experiments, with two live fly longevity experiments ongoing. With mice experiments on the horizon, the pump.science team is looking to larger organisms for its next study. Through their partnership with Pulse, this larger organism may be humans.
Innovative new study
Pulse and pump.science are launching the first ever on-chain controlled study powered by a wearable device. Involving several hundred participants to evaluate a new pump.science supplement in development, participants will wear Pulse devices, which will continuously monitor various health metrics. The data from the Pulse wearable will be collected and analyzed to test the efficacy of the new supplement, while simultaneously being streamed to the pump.science platform where others can engage with the research as it unfolds. This transparent approach creates a collaborative environment where researchers and community members can shape the future of research together. Interested parties can apply here.
“This partnership is a game-changer for showing how decentralized tech can boost health engagement and transform product development. By teaming up with pump.science, we’re giving people control over their health data while creating a new path for discovering and validating effective longevity-enhancing compounds,” said River Tamoor Baig, CEO of Pulse.
The announcement continues a busy Q4 for Pulse, following the platform’s $1.8 million pre-seed round in November, which was co-led by Collab+Currency and Lemniscap. The $1.8 million pre-seed round was quickly followed by a record-breaking three-minute $400,000 fundraise on Echo, as well as an additional $100,000 on the merit-based crypto fundraising platform Legion, in a round which was oversubscribed by 8x.
