Château EDMUS invents NFT wine allocations
Paris, France, September 6th, 2023, Chainwire
Château EDMUS remains in the cutting age of innovation. After a successful experiment with a first NFT Sale in 2022, the estate run by Laurent David, a new winegrower with a passion for innovation and President of La WineTech, is creating a new concept in the industry: the exclusive distribution of its wine in the form of NFT wine allocations within EDMUS Club. His aim is to meet the growing demand for his exceptional rare wines and to keep engaging his customer base with EDMUS project.
A Brand New Concept In The Wine Industry: NFT Allocations
Since its takeover in 2019, this rare wine produced from a small parcel of only 1.6 hectares in the mythic Saint Emilion region has emerged from the shadows and is being recognised by critics for its quality and boldness. His PHi cuvée has just been ranked by iDealWine in the top 10 “most attractive Bordeaux grands crus of the moment”. PHi is often described as a UFO. Made from old Cabernet Franc vines grown biodynamically, aged in Oeuf de Beaune cement eggs, and without sulphites, the cuvée perfectly captures the iconic DNA of EDMUS. From 12 October, Château EDMUS wines will be available only to future new subscribers. The registration list is already open and available at the following address: www.chateauedmus.com.
NFTs will be sold on the https://www.intercellar.io/ marketplace.
Laurent David, owner of Château EDMUS, has naturally opted for this method, which enables his customers to purchase a fixed number of bottles each year directly from the producer. A new vintage of the Grand Cru is available each year after having spent g a minimum of 5 years in the estate’s cellars. Demand now outstrips supply. The 2017 vintage of the Grand Cru will go on sale on 12 October 2023.
The Château EDMUS wine allocations system enable each selected wine-lover to become a member of Club EDMUS and acquire the exclusive 2017 vintage. The following year, in September 2024, Club EDMUS members will also be offered the exclusive 2018 vintage, and so on each year*. Membership cards also come with a host of exclusive benefits, including access to the estate, rare vintages, meetings and even the right to vote on various issues.
Club EDMUS member cards will be digitized and produced in NFT, guaranteeing secure wine storage (free for the first year), traceability of the movements of each bottle, and easy resale of cards or wine allocations.
Three card categories will be offered:
- The Magnum card: entitles the holder to a maximum wine allocation of one case of 24 bottles each year at a 15% discount off the retail price.
- The Jeroboam card: entitles the holder to a maximum wine allocation of one case of 12 bottles each year at a 10% discount off the retail price.
- The Balthazar card: allows you to obtain a maximum wine allocation of one case of 6 bottles each year at a 5% discount off the retail price.
Presenting Laurent DAVID’s Views On The World Of The Wine
In 2019, after leaving Apple, Laurent DAVID, owner of Château EDMUS, realised his childhood dream of “making wine”. Vision and experience are at the heart of his concept, which he is developing with the teams of Stéphane Derenoncourt, a consultant oenologist involved in the development of Château EDMUS since 2006.
His unique and fundamentally human approach is reflected, among other things, in the production of responsible organic and biodynamic wines. His approach is part of a strong desire to create a new way of producing and experiencing wine, one which, is innovation, community and responsibility.
“We are boldly reinterpreting the terroirs of Saint-Emilion, without any fear of breaking the rules, and with a powerful will to deconstruct the prejudices surrounding Bordeaux wines,” says Laurent David.
Using Technology To Serve The Wine Industry
The auction of this collection via the specialist platform iDealwine exceeded all expectations, rivaling even the prices of the most renowned crus such as Petrus or Le Pin. While bottles of the Château EDMUS grand cru are usually sold for around sixty euros, magnum no. 1 was sold for 5,300 euros, while the average price of the sale reached 2,608 euros per magnum.
This daring gamble of making its wines available exclusively in magnum form is a way of enabling Château EDMUS to build a committed and loyal community of customers who share its vision and values.

*Château EDMUS Grand Cru will also continue to be available for fine dining on selected tables, as well as for private sales in limited quantities.
